I was in junior high in Detroit (near the Ford world headquarters over in Dearborn, as well as the massive Rouge plant where the Mustang had been built) when the Mustang II debuted, and it was a HUGE sales hit in '74, with the Blue Oval and owner Henry the Deuce (and company president Lee Iacocca) selling 418,812 units of various types that year. To say it was a smash hit would be an understatement, which is even more amazing when you consider that the V8 wasn't even offered for the '74 model year. Everybody I knew wanted one and they were all over the streets and highways back then. However, I do recall plenty of "true Mustang guys" pretty much spitting on it and otherwise forever swearing off Ford for its heresy. Consider this, though: With the (so-called, because it was phony baloney nonsense, which I knew as a gas station pump jockey while in high school back then) gas shortages and the EPA pushing increasingly higher fuel economy standards and insurers basically pricing performance pony and muscle cars out of the market, the Mustang II arrived just in time for Ford. IIRC, Motor Trend magazine even named it their Car of the Year for '74. Overall, for the five model year production run (with the 302 V8 returning in 1975... only available in a de-smog version at about 140hp), the Mustang II brought the cash in for Ford, with more than 1.1 million units sold from 1974 to 1978 before the Deuce and his Blue Oval debuted the Fox body and the return of the Mustang in 1979. Outside of today's Ford F-150 or other Domestic Three pick-'em-up trucks, try to find a small "economy" car that comes close to selling as well. The Toyota Rav4 at 435,000 as far as small SUVs and the compact-faux-midsize Camry at 291,000 units show how segmented the market is these days in terms of sales. As far as the Mustang nameplate's return in '79, I personally think the Fox body is a bit overrated, but it was indeed the right car at the right time for Ford, and I even bought a new '82 Mustang GT with the also returned (but greatly reduced in horsepower) Boss 302 right off the showroom floor in San Diego that year. But it had plenty of torque and for much of the 80s, as horsepower slowly began returning to cars, it got it done for sure. Bottom line: You either like or hate (really, detest) the Mustang II if you're a Mustang person, but out of the five model years, it was a Top 10 best-seller in four of those. Plus, there was the Charlie's Angels/Farrah Fawcett ad campaign tie-ins and product placement and such. Say what you want about Detroit back then -- and there's plenty to criticize the old Big Three (now "Domestic Three," though Stellantis is American in name only) over, believe me -- but they knew how to build and mass market cars even in the face of the import onslaught coming from Japan. So: Were the II's in original kit far more show than go? Absolutely. But their engine bays are capacious and you can pretty much drop a ton of different powerplants in them, and then there's that legendary Mustang II front suspension... ;-)

Thats the sketchiest looking TQ curve ive ever seen a 4.0 make stock. Maybe your guy was using those stacked floor mats to play with throttle position on the first dyno kinda like the second when you thought you broke something. Either way. Nice to see the 4.0 get some love other than from the American muscle guys years ago. Id like to see what type of NA numbers they can get these days with the tech and tuning software available vs yesteryear

Is there any way to install the pump higher and/or add protective covers/skid plate? My car is not lowered, but the roads in Canada are BAD. That fuel pump would be gone on the first speed bump and there are dividers on residential roads to prevent an angled approach.
Well your fuel pump is in the fuel tank. I assume you're talking about the oil pump. Yes you can put it in a different location or you can upgrade to an air Cooled oil less comp turbo. Then you have no oil lines and no pump.
Dealers can suck They just see a cool Mustang that is supercharged and they probably did 0 to it and out it on the lot for a quick sale. Reminds me of my 17’ Focus I bought during covid. It was only 25k miles and loaded and had a bunch of mods but the headlights were missing the top bolts. The intercooler was zip tied, the splash guard under the front was missing. Back brakes were shot and this was right at the front of the lot. I noticed a lot of things after I bought it. I fixed them but yea buyer beware. It will be a cool ride when you guys are done with it.

We don't have a video finished. The footage ended up being crap. Bad sound etc. But install is virtually the same

Showing the wiring is a lot more interesting than blabing about it, lost me at the red wire. If your gonna show a install show it all not half. Now I have to go watch another video to see how it's done

With a low mount turbo what do you do sincd the waste gate could potentially hit a water puddle
1. The WG isn't going to hit a puddle unless you submerge the car in water. 2. Nothing happens it gets a little water meth style cooling.
